The Dundee Bistro has been the place for celebrations, intimate dinners, casual lunches and a place for local winemakers for over 20 years. In 1999, we took a chance on the small community of Dundee that the area would become the epicenter for the Oregon wine industry. Although it took several years to gain the international attention it deserved, this wine region is now world renowned and The Dundee Bistro has become an iconic establishment that has worn the test of time.

Through the years, it wasn’t easy starting out to find staffing for the restaurant we envisioned, let alone enticing diners to our out-of-the-way location. Like most restaurants, it evolved into its personality and menu development through constant love and a certain amount of tenacity to NOT give up when economic times proved challenging. During the 9/11 era, morale and pocketbooks were down and celebrations were not top of mind. Again, during the 2008 recession and stock market plummet, it was socially unacceptable to host parties, dinners and outward spending towards frivolous expenses. Somehow, through the effort of our founding visionary, Nancy Ponzi, her personal commitment towards educating consumers about food and wine never wavered. We lean on those memories as we move forward in a world that is in chaos and how always a small community and tight knit industry came together for a common cause.

Nancy loved the word “Bistronomy” as it depicted gourmet food, at a reasonable price, to be enjoyed in an elegant, yet casual atmosphere. So, two decades later, in an ever changing world, we offer you Bistronomy, The Dundee Bistro Fan Club, to communicate with you about what we are doing, how we can support you, and of course, how we can feed you beyond the basics and with the best sustenance possible to endure uncertain times. Food can bring us comfort as does familiarity and we want you to be a part of our story every step of the way. Sign up for Bistronomy here.
